Lagunitas "Censored" Review
Lagunitas makes some veeeeryyy interesting brews. I'm a fan of their IPA's, but tonight we try a red/copper ale.
Date: 1/29/10 8:45pm
Beer: Lagunitas Censored (Kronik) Rich Copper Ale
Abv: 5.9%
From: Bottle
Vessel: Snifter
Temp: 43f
Pours a very true copper color (obvious) with minimum tan head. Nose is slight malt with sweet hints of cinnamon and caramel. Tongue is decently hoppy, again with some malt, caramel, and coffee falvors. Mostly subtle stuff here, but though it does not boast a complex flavor profile, it's quite refreshing. Leaves a nice tart aftertaste. Nothing worth jumping in the car and picking up right this second, but surely should be part of your next bulk craft brew purchase at the local specialty store!

Wish I had read this review before. Was at Fireflies in Del Ray on Wednesday (only place open in the snow) and they have some decent brews there. I decided to go with their local Fireflies Amber instead of a Lagunitas IPA....after reading this review I should've gone with the latter!
ReplyDeleteis fireflies a microbrewery? if not, i would say i am ALWAYS suspect of these bars nowadays that have their own "ales". if you're in an establishment and you do not see fermation tanks...or any signs of a brewing process (i.e. cap city, rock bottom, hops where you can SEE the tanks), then I wouldn't even try it.
ReplyDeletemurphy's does this, and their seasonals taste like shit. enough said!
as for lagunitas....i would also HIGHLY recommend the imperial RED. it is EXCELLENT imo.
